Well, yesterday we attended our final awards ceremony of the 08-09 school year. Carly's awards began with great fanfare when the principal opened the ceremony. She was making a comment about how this was the best 6th grade class they have had at her school when the entire gymnasium went dark. A roar of high squeals erupted from the 6th graders while the parents giggled and wondered what was next. The power did NOT come back on. After a few minutes, they propped open the one gym door
to the outside, so we were not in total darkness. The principal commented that she got the job because she could yell loud enough for all to hear, and declared that we didn't need a microphone, but we did need to stay on schedule. And the awards ceremony began...
We were invited because Carly was going to receive an award. However, she received four! She was one of 12 students to be named a F.A.N.G.tastic student, she was recognized for making the A/B honor role for the entire year, and she was also one of two students chosen by her science teacher to win a science recognition award. Her final award was an orchestra recognition. She was one of two orchestra awards for the entire 6th grade. We are so proud!
The camera did NOT like taking pictures in the dark, so I apologize for the poor images. Congratulations, Carly!
